Death is an adventure

“To die will be an awfully big adventure.”
- Aristotle
In my last post I let it slip that I needed a little adventure in my life … that playing with art is adventurous … well, someone sent me a little art challenge!
Stacey sent 26 different images of eyes cropped out of photos. Half the photos were of people she knew. The other half came from old-time cabinet photos. The people in these photos are likely to all have passed over.
So I came up with a little project called “The Quick and The Dead”. (more…)
Adventure is an attitude
Adventure isn’t hanging on a rope off the side of a mountain. Adventure is an attitude that we must apply to the day to day obstacles of life – facing new challenges, seizing new opportunities, testing our resources against the unknown and in the process, discovering our own unique potential.
– John Amatt
I’m thinking about the whole concept of “adventure” these days - I’m feeling a little staid; a tad bored, perhaps. There’s plenty to do but it’s plenty of same-old-same-old, if you know what I mean. Adventure isn’t something you can sit back and wait to receive. Adventure must be sought out. So it seems I must get off my butt and find some excitement.
Art is an adventure, don’t you think? Playing with a new medium or technique can be exciting. Taking an art or craft class is always an adventure of sorts, particularly in a new environment with a new teacher. A trip to a museum or gallery is adventurous - in my opinion, anyway. There are some here in my local area I’ve never been to. Why not? It’s time.
Make a list. Make a list of mini-adventures and wake yourself up. (I’m talking to myself, but you, Gentle Reader, can do likewise if you want.)
Adventure, victory, creative action

It is in the compelling zest of high adventure and of victory, and in creative action, that man finds his supreme joys.
– Antoine de Saint-Exupery
