Women in Art
Dash over to YouTube to see a 3 minute animation called “Women in Art“.
I’m sorry I can’t figure out how to embed it here in my blog. But you will love it, I’m sure.
Ten Rules for Being Human
by Cherie Carter-Scott
1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it’s yours to keep for the entire period.Â
2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called, “life.”Â
3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial, error, and experimentation. The “failed” experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately “work.”Â
4. Lessons are repeated until they are learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can go on to the next lesson.Â
5. Learning lessons does not end. There’s no part of life that doesn’t contain its lessons. If you’re alive, that means there are still lessons to be learned.Â
6. “There” is no better a place than “here.” When your “there” has become a “here”, you will simply obtain another “there” that will again look better than “here.”Â
7. Other people are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.Â
8. What you make of your life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.Â
9. Your answers lie within you. The answers to life’s questions lie within you. All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.Â
10. You will forget all this.Â

You know you’ve made it big when . . .
You know you’ve made it big when some gallery blows up your digital photo and hangs it for all to see.
If you haven’t made it big yet, yourself, you can at least pretend.

Secret about a secret

My mother tells me not to pick at the scab. But I just can’t stop myself, you know? Quotes can be puzzling but I keep picking away.
This is another quote along the same lines as the one I shared in my previous post. But this one doesn’t have quite the same effect on my brain. I think I get this one. I think this one even helps me understand the Gustave Flaubert quote a little better. I like the idea of art being a secret about a secret. It is nicer than art being a lie that isn’t as untrue as other lies.
Art and Lies

Sometimes I come across a quote that strikes me as brilliant . . . as long as I don’t think about it too hard. If I start trying to unravel it, though, my brain starts to expand inside my skull and I fear my head might explode.
This is one of those quotes.
Sunshine and smiles

What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity.
- Joseph Addison
I’ve been playing in Photoshop with some flower photographs I shot a year ago. This is the “accented edges” filter. And deciding I’d like to put it on the blog, I had to go hunting for a good flower quote. This is a fitting one for Happiness-Studio, don’t you agree?
