Dear Future Me
Do you know this website? You can send an email to your future self here: http://www.futureme.org/
What will you tell your future self?
I know what I’d really like - a website where your future self can send an email to your past self.
What would you tell your past self?
Dish washing liquid? Relax, it’s Palmolive.
Okay. I don’t watch the news or current events shows on tv. I don’t normally give a second glance to news headlines I happen across online. But here is one that caught my eye. It touched my heart. I think the world needs more of this sort of story:
LONDON (Reuters) - British firefighters said on Wednesday they had come to a boy’s rescue after he got a toilet seat stuck on his head.
The toddler, aged two-and-a-half, and his mother walked into a fire station in Braintree, Essex, Tuesday saying the boy had put his head through a small trainer seat for the toilet and now could not remove it.
“His mum had tried to get it over his head but couldn’t budge it so she walked him down here and asked us to have a look at it and we went to work and we managed to get it off in no time,” firefighter Chris Cox said.
“We simply put some dish washing liquid on his head and ears and it slid off nice as pie.”
He said the boy had been “very brave” and “toddled away as happy as can be” after his ordeal ended.
Meanings of Color
For all you artist-types, here’s some interesting reading about COLOR: http://www.squidoo.com/colorexpert/
Deeds well done
True happiness comes
from the joy of deeds well done,
the zest of creating things new.
- Antoine de Saint-Exupery
This quote is one of my favorites as it rings so loud and true. (I might have even blogged it already, but a good quote is worth repeating!)
It is such a great feeling to finish a task knowing you’ve done well. And the creative process - the act of creating something, be it utilitarian or artistic or both, it absolutely nurtures the soul.
Need a little joy and zest in your life? Take action.
People who make us happy
Let us be grateful
to people who
make us happy;
they are the
charming gardeners
who make
our souls blossom.
- Marcel Proust
Spring lifts my spirits and gives me joy. The changing weather and new growth remind me of how wonderful nature is.
But the special people in my life - the “charming gardeners” - are constantly there in my life. They are not seasonal. Consequently I take them for granted. Here’s a gentle reminder to reflect on and express your love to the people who matter most.
Happy Reverting
As a kid I might have scribbled a little Easter cartoon like this one with my crayons. Today it was with “digital crayons’ in Photoshop.
The medium - crayons or computer - is not so important as the TIME spent creating. I caught myself smiling while I made this picture. That’s the prize of creativity, you know - Peace and happiness.
Revert to childhood. Remember the sort of things you used to draw as a kid. It all comes back so easily.
Think and act in beneficial ways
Happiness comes
when your work and words
are of benefit to yourself and others.
- Buddha
Stay alert and present to your thoughts and words. When we are kind and helpful our reward is happiness.
