Softies will soften your heart
Did you have a teddy or other soft toy that you LOVED? Maybe you still do! There’s a whole craft movement out there of “Softies” makers and if you are quick you can go place your vote in the 2007 Softies Awards. Flip through the categories and choose your faves. This is a fun exercise. Maybe it will even inspire you to make a softie or two for yourself or a loved-one - young or old.
Go to: http://www.zoomerang.com/survey.zgi?p=WEB226AHFC3FNV Voting ends FRIDAY I think, so if you miss it here, or if you just want to overdose on softies, check out the Flickr Softie photos at http://www.flickr.com/groups/69953377@N00/pool/ .

Making Art is Good 4 U
I made a Squidoo Lens called Making Art is Good 4 U. This is a single web page with some suggestions, some quotes, some recommended reading . . .
It is a work in progress. There’s more I want to add. I didn’t want to reveal it on my blog till it was finished.
Then it occurred to me - that’s an attitude I often have about the art I make. I tweak and tweak and I keep it private thinking, “It’s not ready to show anyone yet”.
But you know what? Sometimes that is just an excuse. Maybe I’m hiding behind an excuse because I am really insecure about my creations. So what if they aren’t done to my satisfaction. Maybe folks will give me some good suggestions on other stuff I can add to this Squidoo Lens if they check it out now.
Making Art is Good 4 U. Check it out.
Squidoodle
Prepare yourself for something really cool. This is a an interactive “3-D” doodling program and you can actually spin your image to see it from multiple angles. I could play with this one for ages:

Meditation and Divination

My picture is In the Spotlight at Go-Make-Art this month.
I was asked to write an artist statement to go with it, and in doing so, I learned something interesting. I’ve always known that doodling puts me into a meditative state. But in writing the statement I put into words something else that I knew intuitively but hadn’t expressed - art is also a divinitive process. Go read the statement to see what I mean.
Picking your nose
Picking your nose
when no one is looking
is still
picking your nose.

“Really Important Stuff my Kids have Taught Me”
Okay, I’m not sure how inspirational this quote is, but I like it. It makes me laugh.
Because I know I pick my nose when I think no one is watching, how about you?
